There are several different options for getting to Château de la Colaissière, depending on from where you are coming. If you are taking a transatlantic flight to the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, you may rent a car at the airport and drive directly to the castle. There is also the option of taking the high-speed train directly from the airport to Nantes, but these trains only three times a day. If you are planning on spending time in the city of Paris before coming to the castle, we suggest taking the high speed train to Nantes, and renting a car from there. These trains run frequently and take about 2 hours from Paris to Nantes.   There are rental cars available from most major agencies at the south side of the Nantes train station.

The TGV (High-Speed Train) is another simple way to arrive at the castle. Depending on your schedule you may be able to catch a train directly from the airport. There is usually only three trains a day from the airport to Nantes, so checking in advance would be a good idea. If the trains from the airport are do not coordinate with your schedule, you will need to travel into Paris to catch the train at Gare de Montparnasse (one of the main train stations in the south of Paris).   To do this, you have 3 options:

  1. Air France Bus:   These run every half hour or so, from Terminal 1, Gate 36 on the Arrivals level. They make stops at the Gare de Lyon and the Gare de Montparnasse. This is €11.50 per person and takes about an hour depending on the traffic
  2. Taxi: This is the most efficient option for getting to Paris. There are usually taxi stands right outside on the arrivals level. It will take about 45 minutes and costs roughly €40.00.
  3. Metro/RER: From the airport, you can take the public transportation into Paris.   It costs €7.00 to get from the airport into Paris. Take the RER B toChatelet-Les Halles. Transfer to the 4 Line towards Porte d’Orleans. Get off at Montparnasse-Bienvenue. This is right underneath the main hall of the train station. Once at the station, you will need to buy a ticket to Nantes. Trains in France are a fantastic means of transportation: they’re consistently on time, comfortable, quick and fairly inexpensive.
